SPORTS MASSAGE

Offering 60 and 90 minute sessions sports massage is a great way to optimise your performance and recovery, as it has several benefits before and after activity.

Before activity - sports massage helps improve blood flow around the body and is a great way to target the main muscle groups you're about to use. A good example of this would be footballers having a leg massage the morning of a game.

After activity - gentle massage can help promote the removal of lactic acid that builds up and causes muscle cramps, with harder and more specific massage techniques can work on any tight or sore points. A good example of this is the many marathon runners I see within a couple of days of their race.

The other main benefit of a sports massage is that it helps relax the para sympathetic nervous system, which helps you relax and let go of any stress you may have. A common session for this would be a 60 minute shoulders and back massage, with gentler techniques used unless there's a lot of tension.

It's a common misconception that sports massages hurt or have to be tough to get any benefits. All of my clients are different and the massage pressure is personal to what you want and need. With new clients I always start off gentle and build up to the pressure that they like.

If you struggle to recover, have an important event coming up, or just need to let go of some stress, a sports massage is perfect for you.
